Outreach Programs

Northeast Iowa School of Music strives to make music available to everyone. To help do this, we have a number of programs geared toward people of all ages.

L&MOP

L&MOP is a program dedicated to provide free music educational programming to preschool children once a month. Each program is offered on the second Saturday of the month at 10 am and features a different performer from the region.

After the performance, the kids get a lollipop!

Creative Aging

Creative Aging classes are offered for older adults who want to continue to maintain their mental acuity and joint health while building increased coordination overall fulfillment. Based on scientifically sound principles, these classes are great for anyone who wants to learn a new instrument, get better at an old, or just get out and make some music!

Mini-Musician Mondays

This class is designed for preschoolers ages 0-5 with a parent or guardian. Participate with your young child in singing, moving and playing instruments in this lively, musical class. Each class will incorporate song, rhymes, lullabies, floor and lap games along with puppets, crafts, instruments and props to develop children’s innate response to music, encouraging imagination and focus. Older children will be encouraged to sing and dance, improving pitch-matching and language skills along with developing their sense of musical timing, rhythm and self-confidence. Babies and toddlers will benefit by watching and listening to stimulate their natural responses to rhythm and music while they bond with their caretaker and strengthen early neuro-developmental pathways.Mini Musicians classes are led by School of Music instructor Rebecca Lansing.Classes are 45 minutes in length.

Registration is requested, as class sizes are limited.

Off-site Lessons

Lessons have been offered at various locations to meet the needs of the Dubuque community. We have offered programming at the Dream Center, senior living facilities, the Multi-Cultural family center, among other places.

If you or your organization wants us to collaborate in offering music lessons, do not hesitate to contact our office. We WANT to work with other organizations in the community.
